Rolled into Yamba a bit late on a Tuesday night (7:45pm) only to find most places shutting up shop or already dark. Tom’s Chinese was still open and welcoming – lifesaver. Was greeted by a friendly bloke rocking some slick Timberlands who wasted no time sorting us out with short soup, a sizzling combo, and the trusty chicken cashew. He was light on for chat but oozed charisma. Everything came out quick, hot, and exactly what you want from a classic Chinese feed – tasty, comforting, and generous. The sizzling combo put on a bit of a show, and the chicken cashew was just easy eating. If you’re in Yamba after hours, skip the “where’s still open?” panic and head straight to Tom’s. Best wishes to Tom and his family – thanks for keeping the lights and the woks on for hungry travellers! Four stars for atmos…cmon Tom a YouTube 80s megamix wouldn’t go astray for the ambience.

Having lived in Yamba for the last 15 years Toms Chinese has always been our go to. Not only is the food delicious, unlike many other restaurants Tom is open 7 days and Tom and his beautiful wife run a true family restaurant based on traditional values. Yes, it’s not a high end offering, but it’s honest food, every day of the week. Keep up the good work
